A Network for Defence Industry Cooperation
What?
LappiDefence – project is a joint initiative of Lapland Education Centre REDU and Lappia Vocational College. Its aim is to strengthen the readiness of SMEs in Lapland to participate in the defence industry and NATO supply chain markets.
The project aims to increase companies’ awareness of NATO procurement processes and support them in obtaining the necessary qualifications certificates as well as registering on international procurement platforms, including NSPA and NCIA.
LappiDefence is an open network bringing together companies, educational institutions, and research organisations in Lapland, as well as national organisations and networks seeking to access defence and security procurement opportunities in Finland and international markets.
The network aims to accelerate innovation and development activities and increase the turnover and growth of participating companies.
Why?
LappiDefence – project helps SMEs in Lapland prepare for the growing NATO and defence industry markets.
An NCAGE code (NATO Commercial and Government Entity Code) is a company’s NATO identification code and an important first step towards entering NATO supply chains. In addition, a company needs to register with the NSPA (NATO Support and Procurement Agency) supplier portal in order to participate in NSPA procurement opportunities.
Without these registrations, companies cannot effectively access NATO’s official procurement channels or submit direct bids for relevant tenders.
LappiDefence provides companies with information and support relating to NATO registrations, qualifications, procurement processes and the development of strategic partnerships.
